This 1949 Mercury is owned by John Mumford
In addition to owning the Barris-built Ala Kart, John Mumford recently brought the Sam Barris '49 to the shop for a complete restoration. Arguably the first Mercury ever chopped, we replaced every nut and bolt on the chassis with original stock components before we sent the body to Darryl Hollenbeck for the metallic green paint. Look for the feature in the Rodders Journal #38, and if you're in the Los Angeles area, the Merc will be on display in the NHRA museum through February 2008.
