Well, the father and son team are at it again. One thing about building a new car for two is you have to split the driving time. What better way of keeping track of whose turn it is than to build a second car. The Hawley’s purchased a solid “old school” 55 Chevy, with a stock frame, Olds rear end, a Doug Nash 5 speed trans and an early 427 cubic inch Chevy engine. The upgrade, an Art Morrison chassis, a 9 inch Ford rear end, a Tremic 5 speed replacing the Nash trans and a 427 cubic inch, all aluminum LS6 engine purchased from famed ball player and car collector Reggie Jackson (#45 of 427). We are getting a good head start on this project because of the “ nice piece” we are starting with. Hopefully, before long, the only decision Fred and Scott will have to make is who’s driving the 55 and who’s driving the 56.
