Eric has spent some time in Venice Beach. We think some of the Beach Boys must have rubbed off on him. Now the search was on for a woodie. A nice ’47 Chevy wagon was located in Southern California, and after a quick inspection, the car was purchased and brought to our shop.
The plan was to perform our standard conversion, a Heidts front end, Currie rear-end and a small block Chevy. However, once we started, we found things that forced us to go a little deeper. The result, some patch work and a new coat of paint and a trip to Chris Messano Wood Works for a tune up on the wood.
Look for Eric’s woodie at the NHRA Museum in Pomona in January titled Axle’s and Axe’s, Fender guitarists and their cars.
